Montenegro is the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. Its magnificent landscapes, pleasant climate, high mountains, deep blue sea and spectacular valleys and lakes are the best recommendation to visit it.
With its natural potentials, the town of Ulcinj, the southernmost town on the Montenegrin coast, is considered a marvel of tourism. Aside from being the sunniest place in the country, it is also known by its 13km long and 60m wide beach – the longest sandy beach on the Adriatic Sea. Below we will name only a few landmarks adorning Ulcinj.
Ada Bojana
The river island of Ada Bojana is surrounded by the Bojana River on two sides and by the Adriatic Sea on the third, where a beautiful sandy beach can be found. This is one of the most famous nudist resorts on the Adriatic.
On the right bank of the Bojana River, with their platforms on the water itself, a row of fish restaurants are offering fresh seafood specialties.
Valdanos
A cove of unique beauty with a magnificent beach, in the background of which there is a very famous and well-kept olive orchard with more than 17,000 trees.
Old Town
An ancient fortification more than 2,500 years old and a source of many legends, of which one of the more interesting ones is the story according to which Miguel de Cervantes, the writer of Don Quixote, was a slave in Ulcinj at the end of the 16th century. The proponents of this theory claim that the character of Dulcinea del Toboso, to whom Don Quixote dedicated all his "heroic" deeds, Cervantes created having in mind some female resident of Ulcinj of that time.
